UK is set to be a whopping 5C hotter than Barcelona on one day this week as another roasting spell hits. This weekend saw the warmest day for Brits so far this year with the Met Office revealing that the mercury hit 20C in Kinlochewe, north-west Scotland, on Saturday.

Those temperatures should now continue into this week, with forecasters at Netweather predicting a scorcher on Tuesday. They reckon that in London from noon to 3pm we should see highs of 18C, with it potentially being even warmer elsewhere.

There is even a chance that the mercury hits 18C once again on Wednesday at a similar time. In comparison, weather.com predict that temperatures in Barcelona will only hit 13C on Tuesday.

The UK will also be warmer than Monaco, Madrid and Lisbon this week. BBC forecaster Chris Fawkes reckons the weather “is going to get a lot, lot warmer” this week. "As the southerly winds continue to push northwards through Tuesday and Wednesday, those temperatures are going to surge significantly," he said."Tuesday - a fine day with some sunshine - maybe a few isolated showers developing through the afternoon but most of you will have a dry day though."Temperatures will reach a high of 19°C in London, 15°C in Glasgow and 14°C in Belfast."Jim Dale, meteorologist for British Weather Services, says it may be even warmer this week.
