Met Office issues yellow warning as thunderstorm washout strikes ahead of wet weekend
Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning across areas of Britain with lightning, heavy showers and even some unseasonable hail forecast in the Midlands, South West of England and Wales. A considerable 90% of Wales is included in the weather warning, which also covers a sizeable area stretching from Birmingham and Bath down to Plymouth in Devon and Salisbury in Wiltshire.READ MORE: Meghan and Harry told to ‘step away’ from royal titles and try alternative nameThe yellow warning is not expected to be lifted until Friday (July 1) evening.BBC forecaster Chris Fawkes said: “What you will notice over the next few days is that the winds will become really quite light and so where those showers form and they are going to be quite widespread, they are going to be slow moving in nature, some of them turning heavy, with some hail and thunder, we might even get some flash flooding from the heaviest of the downpours as well."Chris added: "Temperatures similar to what we have seen over recent days, high teens across western areas, low 20Cs in the warmest spots further east."Looking further ahead, the Met Office predicted that there will be an "unsettled weekend of sunny spells and scattered showers, occasionally heavy, mainly in the north and west".

Jubilee weekend set for 23C 'sunny start' as Met Office predicts showery spells
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as Britons look forward to mixed weather during their celebrations.Deputy chief meteorologist Helen Caughey said: “While it may be an unsettled start for some with showers for northern and western areas, many areas will see generally settled conditions over much of the long Jubilee Weekend, with plenty of dry weather and good spells of sunshine.“Temperatures will be widely into the low 20s, feeling warmer in the sunshine, although temperatures will drop off quickly into the evenings.”According to weather charts from WXCHARTS and reports from BBC meteorologists, the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Thursday (May 2) will go ahead without a downpour.BBC Meteorologist Chris Fawkes reassured royal fans in the central and southern areas of the country planning to attend Jubilee celebrations on Thursday.Mr Fawkes said there will be a “sunny start to [Thursday] morning if somewhat cool, but temperatures will quickly rise”.He warned of “scattered showers across Scotland and northern England.”To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here.The Met Office has said that the temperatures will be “closer to average for the time of year further south, likely peaking at around 20-22C on Thursday, but the south seeing temperatures of 23-25C, possibly 26C on Friday.”Despite the washout weather for the south, it looks as though the weather will be bright and dry for the north of England and Scotland and Ireland.Saturday’s weather is still uncertain due to a plume of warm air from the continent that could influence showers in southern areas from Friday night onwards.As the weekend progresses, the weather will see a flip as the best of it will be in the north.The BBC

Met Office predicts week-long sun as soaring temperatures and 'mini-heatwave' loom
forecasters, some regions are expecting highs of 21C through the end of March, leading to a "mini-heatwave."This is due to a massive high-pressure system that is set to bring a blast of North African air and be swept across the country.Tomorrow will see clouds lingering to the south and west and along the North Sea Coast.Otherwise, it will be dry with extensive sunshine for most, with temperatures reaching around 14C for the majority and possibly 18C for some.Scientists have suggested that Britain's "early summer" could be caused by a "completely unprecedented" heatwave in the Arctic.BBC weather forecaster Darren Bett said: "The weather is really settling down, there is going to be a lot of dry weather, probably for the next week or so."BBC weather forecaster Chris Fawkes added: "Our settled weather is due to this big area of high pressure."We do have a weather front coming in on Sunday and Monday, very weak affair, could bring an odd shower but the emphasis nevertheless remains on an extended run of dry weather with lots of sunshine in the forecast as well.
