Clear skies and bright sunshine are on the cards for the week ahead as the country is set to see rising temperatures. On Saturday the UK saw the hottest day of the year so far, with 20C recorded in the village of Kinlochewe in northern Scotland.

It will be “breezier and colder” today, according to the Met Office, with cloudy weather in parts of the South West, but the mercury levels are set to rise again next week.

Temperatures of up to 18C have been predicted for Greater Manchester on Tuesday and Wednesday. The region saw highs of up to 15C on yesterday (March 19), with people across the city centre making the most of the sunshine.

BBC forecast Chris Fawkes said the weather “is going to get a lot, lot warmer” across the country next week, The Mirror reports.
