Driving experts have warned motorists that failing to do one simple thing during rainy weather could result in a £1,000 fine.Rainfall is expected to lash most of the UK this coming week, and if drivers aren't careful, the bad weather could cause accidents on the roads.

There are a few things that motorists can do to ensure they're being extra safe, but one mistake in particular could see you hit with a hefty fine if you're caught by the police.

According to experts at ATS Euromaster, keeping your car aircon on during rainy conditions is a must if you want to keep safe and avoid getting a fine.

Technical engineer Simon Wayne said: "Driving in the rain can mean your windows are likely to quickly steam up. Make sure you have your air conditioning on to make sure your visibility isn’t reduced. "Driving with misty windows could land you a £1,000 fine and three points on your license."According to further research by the tyre company, one in eight drivers have had an accident when driving in rainy weather.
