Former striker Dave Kitson has revealed he would like to meet Raheem Sterling to explain the comments he made in 2018 after the Manchester City star suffered racist abuse.
Kitson, who played for Stoke City and Reading in the Premier League, announced his plans to become chief executive of the PFA this week but faced immediate backlash, with the head of Kick It Out, Sanjay Bhandari, saying the anti-discrimination charity was concerned about Kitson's ability to represent black players.
Sterling suffered racist abuse from a supporter in a match between City and Chelsea two years ago and, in an appearance on talkSPORT, Kitson suggested that the England international's social media posts had 'antagonised' people.
