Daniel Dubois suing Don King over 'failure to pay him hundreds of thousands' for fight

boxing promoter Don King over failure to pay him for his last fight.The British heavyweight beat King’s Trevor Bryan to claim the WBA ‘regular’ title back in June, though the 24-year-old claims he has yet to be paid for the clash which took place in Miami.

Now his lawyer has filed a lawsuit against Don King Productions in Florida, where the company is based."The fighter hasn’t gotten paid and when boxers get in the ring and risk their lives the most important obligation of the promoter, the sanctioning body and the commission is to see that they are paid, and that hasn’t been done here," Leon Margules, Dubois’ attorney, told Big Fight Weekend on Tuesday.READ MORE: Doctor's report says Daniel Dubois was on brink of being blinded before ending Joe Joyce fightDubois is said to be owed between $463,274 (£380,767) and $938,274 (£771,172) according to court documents for the event which was a pay-per-view event in the US on King’s own website.King won a purse bid for $3.1m (£2.6m) with the WBA to stage the fight which promised Dubois a purse of $1.4m.

But it is unclear how much is still said to be owed because of tax and sanctioning fees paid to the WBA.King had been told to pay Dubois his net purse of $938,274 immediately after his fight, Dubois would then pay the sanctioning fee and US taxes.
