The brand’s white strawberry-printed shoe is having a moment on Instagram Fashion has had a few flirtations with the much-derided Croc.
There was the brand’s collaboration with Christopher Kane in 2016 - the shoes were embellished with fur and gemstones - and another with Balenciaga in 2017, when creative director Demna Gvasalia covered towering platform Crocs in decorative buttons.
These partnerships made a splash, but to be honest, I never really took them seriously. Makers of functional-yet-boring goods have long used high-end fashion labels for an injection of cool - often paying large sums for the privilege.
