Cristiano Ronaldo has been dropped for the game against Manchester City for tactical reasons, according to reports. The Manchester United player is not part of Ralf Rangnick ’s side for the game at the Eithad, with many reports suggesting that he has been ruled out of the game through injury.

But an Instagram which is followed by Ronaldo claimed almost 24 hours beforehand that the attacker had been dropped for other reasons.

In a post that had an image of Ronaldo as well as Rangnick, a caption revealed:“ Cristiano Ronaldo will not play tomorrow against Manchester City! “Manchester United's manager wants to enter with a different game strategy in tomorrow's game and has chosen to defend himself more, a purely tactical choice.“The CR7 won't even be on the bench.“So, what did you think?

Coach stupidity? Good option to save more Cristiano for the Champions? Could you play this one and save only against Tottenham?”The Athletic report that, as well as Ronaldo who they say is out injured, striker Edinson Cavani is not part of the matchday squad either.Consequently, it could be that Marcus Rashford - who has not scored since the 1-0 win over West Ham United on January 22 - who will be deployed as a lone striker leading the line, with Bruno Fernandes as a false nine.Ronaldo has come in for some stick recently - but he remains United's top scorer this season, netting 15 times in 30 appearances in all competitions.A caveat to the statistics is that he has only scored once this year, a well-hit drive from long distance in United’s 2-0 win over Brighton on February 15.Rangnick spoke in a press conference ahead of the game about his attacking options.Do you Ronaldo will be at Man United next season?
