Diogo Dalot says interim manager Ralf Rangnick favours high-pressing players at Manchester United. Dalot started eight successive matches across January and February before he dropped down to the bench in the 4-2 win at Leeds.
Dalot expected to start at Atletico Madrid three days later but Victor Lindelof was surprisingly selected at right-back over Dalot and fellow right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Wan-Bissaka has started in the last two games against Watford and Manchester City, where his error-strewn performance was widely criticised and Dalot could return for Saturday's vital fixture against Tottenham at Old Trafford. With Wan Bissaka starting, United have shipped nine goals in six matches and recorded one clean sheet. Dalot's improved form coincided with the managerial change and in his first month under Rangnick he recovered an average of seven balls per match and had the highest number of shots on target among the United full-backs with 23%.
