Aston Villa shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez has revealed growing up he only knew of Arsenal and Manchester United. The Argentine has proved to be good business for the claret and blues and in a short-space of time, he has established himself as Argentina's number one.
In the summer, he helped them win the Copa America and won the tournament's Best Goalkeeper award. With the rich history surrounding Old Trafford, Martinez paid homage to the stadium that has played host to a number of triumphs for United.
He explained how he finds the Theatre of Dreams "special". "It means dreams, when I was young, watching Man United and Arsenal, I loved that stadiums, so when I go to play at Man United, it’s special and [even better] to keep a clean sheet." Martinez kept a clean sheet at Old Trafford, earlier in the season, as Bruno Fernandes missed a late penalty to hand Villa a rare win in the red half of Manchester.
The Portuguese international did beat him in the reverse fixture as he fired home a brace but the Reds let their two-goal lead slump as Steven Gerrard's side sparked a late comeback.
