A couple won a life-changing £1 million in a Lotto draw just one day after the husband was made redundant at work and weeks after they lost a loved one to coronavirus in a double tragedy.

Wood machinist David Adams, 61, and his wife Shelley were going through an incredibly difficult and painful time when their luck changed and they scooped the seven-figure prize online in last Saturday's lottery.

David lost his job just 24 hours earlier, and Shelley, 52, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) last year, forcing her to give up her job as a community carer.
