The government plans to resettle 20,000 vulnerable Afghans – particularly women and girls – with 5,000 arriving in the first 12 months.
There is also a separate scheme to resettle 5,000 interpreters and other local staff who had worked with the British after the Afghan capital Kabul fell to the Taliban.
