A priest who shook hands with hundreds of worshippers has been diagnosed with the coronavirus , putting several hundred people at risk.
Reverend Timothy Cole, of Christ Church in Washington DC, the US, was diagnosed with the COVID-19 strain on Saturday – the first confirmed case in the city.
All worshippers who attended the church on February 24 or in between February 28 and March have been asked to self-quarantine for two weeks.
Those who came into contact with the reverend, who has been a rector of the Christ Church since 2016, are said to be at "medium risk." It has been estimated that "several hundred people were impacted and had interactions" with Reverend Cole.
