A priest who shook hands with hundreds of worshippers has been diagnosed with coronavirus. Reverend Timothy Cole of Christ Church, rector of the church in Washington DC, was positively diagnosed with the virus on Saturday.
He is the first person to be diagnosed in the city. Officials are now asking all worshippers who visited the church either on February 24 or between February 28 and March to self-quarantine for two weeks.
They estimate "several hundred people were impacted and had interactions" with Reverend Cole. Those who came into contact with him are said to be at "medium risk" of contracting the infection.
