Coronavirus: London Zoo launches appeal for help as zookeepers still caring for animals

It's gates may have shut thanks to coronavirus but life goes on for the dedicated staff caring for 18,000 animals at ZSL London Zoo.

As our pictures show, zookeepers are still making food for the giraffes, caring for the meerkats and cleaning out Penguin Beach, as well as their many other duties.

But it’s all done at a safe distance of two metres apart. Just like many other attractions and businesses, the zoo has hit hard by the outbreak.
