Coronation Street fans have been left fuming as the much-loved ITV soap will not air tonight because of the football. Soap schedules are being shaken up to make way for FA Cup matches, and while Emmerdale will be on, Wednesday's instalment of Corrie has been bumped. It will be back on Friday and an extra-long episode will air on Sunday. But while we may be a nation of footy fans, not everyone wants to give up their usual trip to Weatherfield.Plenty of viewers have been tweeting their thoughts on the subject."Why does football matter more than Coronation Street?" asked one annoyed soap fan."I hate watching football," said another."Why can't football be on a channel made just for football?

Then anyone wanting football goes to the football channel. Simple."Another person asked: "Why do soaps that raise well thought out domestic issues get cancelled for football like, all the time?""Sorry but soaps are more important than 22 overpaid men kicking a wee ball around a football pitch," one person said, while another said simply: "Damn football.""@ITV have several other channels to show football on - or our favourite soaps - 3 nights of football on @ITV Why??" asked another upset viewer. One person said it was "time something was sorted out by TV bosses"."I find it frustrating enough but what abt the elderly who look forward to their evening of TV," the viewer continued."I think it's soooooo rude and inconsiderate SORT YOURSELVES OUT!!!!"However, other people pointed out that not everyone tuned in to soaps anyway."Some of us like football," one person tweeted."We've got soaps on every day of the week.

I'm sure they'll survive for a few days without." Another said: "I'm just celebrating no Emmerdale + Corrie for 1 single solitary.
