Call for Airbnb to extend initiative providing free accommodation to domestic abuse survivors

Recent statistics by the Office for National Statistics found that domestic abuse cases accounted for 20 pc of all offences reported to police forces across the country between April and June this year - up from a figure below 15 pc the previous year.

With harsher restrictions now in place across the country, there are concerns that levels of domestic abuse could rise again over the next few weeks.Earlier this year, Airbnb Ireland ran an initiative where domestic violence survivors were able to find free temporary accommodation when specialist refuge was not available.
