Brits braced for 28C heatwave as Met Office issues scorching April long-range forecast

Weather forecaster Jim Dale told the Express that Brits can look forward to hot weather arriving "fairly early" this year. April temperatures in the UK usually reach a daily high of around 12C and a low of 4C - but the high this year could reach a scorching 28C.The forecaster said such spikes in temperature are becoming more likely as a result of global warming.He said: "I think hot weather could come in fairly early as far as April is concerned perhaps.“I know March is the start of Spring but I think we’re probably going to get properly into April before we start to see the searing sort of temperatures.“I wouldn’t be surprised to see 26C, 27C, 28C in the middle of April.”Dale added: “Longer-term, given what’s happening globally in terms of the temperature profiles in the southern hemisphere and what’s also happening in the United States, I would not be surprised if we started to see some big highlights - in whichever direction it goes, either cold or hot.“It is more likely that we see those spikes of heat at early stages because of global warming.“It’s too difficult to be certain at this moment, but I would not be surprised to see the summer deliver the same kind of heat stress at times.”This comes as The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for strong winds tomorrow (Sunday, March 13).Gusts are expected to track up the Irish Sea, and winds may reach 50-60 mph along coastal areas.These are expected to travel northwards throughout Sunday.There is a small chance of winds exceeding 50-60 mph, possibly reaching severe gales along more exposed coastal regions with winds reaching 65 mph.This may lead to some poor coastal conditions and transport disruption.
