British women are the world's biggest binge drinkers, a new report says. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) compared alcohol consumption across 33 countries.
And the new OECD health league tables also show that adults in the UK are some of the heaviest binge drinkers - defined as having at least six drinks in a single session.
More than a third (35 per cent) of adults across the UK report binge drinking at least once a month and only Romania and Denmark have worse heavy drinking rates.
In the UK, 26 per cent of women say they binge drink at least once a month, the highest among females in the world. However, British men were higher, with 45 per cent admitting to consuming six alcoholic drinks in a single session at least once a month.
