A Briton who died scuba diving in Egypt had his body returned home with his heart missing. Desmond Boucher, 59, blacked out last July while in the Red Sea and was pronounced dead at Sharm International Hospital.
A pathologist who examined his body in the UK told an inquest it was now difficult to establish the cause of death. The hearing was told a postmortem was carried out in Egypt but a detailed report had not been supplied by authorities.
Mr Boucher’s brother John said currency-trader Desmond, from Ebbw Vale, South Wales, was an experienced diver. Senior Gwent coroner Caroline Saunders said the pathologist in Egypt determined cause of death to be “severe respiratory failure”.
