Shocking drone images have captured the devastating aftermath of a 'suspicious firebombing' at a restaurant in Bothwell.The Da Luciano's eatery was targeted for the second time in a matter of weeks after a blaze was set on the first floor of the building earlier this week.Emergency services were called to the scene in the posh South Lanarkshire village shortly after midnight on Monday, August 28.
Crews managed to tackle the flames but the property has been left severely damaged by the inferno. Drone photos taken by Iain Douglas shows the roof has almost completely caved in, Glasgow Live reports.Police Scotland have confirmed they are treating Monday’s fire as ‘wilful’ with enquiries ongoing.A force spokesperson said: “Around 12.25am on Monday, 28 August, 2023, police were called to the Silverwells Crescent area of Bothwell, following a report of a fire at a premises."There were no reported injuries and the fire is being treated as wilful.
Emergency services remain at the scene and enquiries remain ongoing."The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service added: "We were alerted at 12.06am on Monday, August 28 to reports of a building fire on Silverwells Crescent, Bothwell in Glasgow."Operations Control immediately mobilised two appliances to the scene and on arrival firefighters found the first floor of a one storey detached restaurant block well alight."Additional resources were mobilised including two further appliances.”We previously told how emergency crews were called to the popular restaurant on July 18 after a separate blaze was started.
It is also being treated as deliberate.A source told the Record: “Last time, they petrol bombed the downstairs but the whole building didn’t go up.
