dailystar.co.ukSir Billy ConnollyCBE has revealed he now swears in his sleep.The Scottish joker made his name as a controversial comedian firing out expletives on stage.But now Sir Billy, 79, can’t stop swearing even when he is tucked up in bed for the night.He said: “Recently, I was diagnosed with sleep behaviour disorder because, apparently, I have raging battles during the night.“I yell and swear and thrash about – and have done so for years.“I rarely remember the fights, although I did once wake up in horror after dreaming I’d murdered Paul McCartney and buried him at the traffic lights in Glasgow Cross.”Billy has always been open about his potty-mouthed patter and said in his new book Windswept & Interesting that it is a part of life.He claimed: “Almost everybody swears.
Only he’s dead sneaky – he swears in Latin.“George Square in Glasgow is the place to hear swearing. That’s where you see swearing experts.“I’ve never tried to control my swearing.
People have criticised me for it: ‘Oh, he swears too much,’ but I care not a jot."He added: “I like it. Swearing is very natural for me – and for most Glaswegians–and we’re very, very good at it.“If you’re going to take up swearing, you have to learn how to do it properly, and make it sound like it’s normal conversation with a normal meaning.“Glasgow swearing is extremely sophisticated.
It’s a highly developed art.”But one person not impressed with Billy’s bad language was his dad, after coming to see him when he first performed.Billy added: “My father came a couple of times, but he wounded me with his comments.“At that time, even saying ‘fart’ onstage was startling, and I was up there swearing, and talking like people did in pubs, so of course my father disapproved.“I imagine he would.
