Australian cricket shot itself in the foot yet again by reopening the 2018 cheating sandpaper affair after Cameron Bancroft questioned the role of the bowlers.
A powderpuff investigation by Cricket Australia at the time decided that no-one else knew anything about the use of sandpaper bar the three men involved, Bancroft, David Warner and Steve Smith, and that it only ever happened once.
With a ban of nine months long behind him, Bancroft now says that the issue of whether the bowlers knew about the tactic was ‘pretty self-explanatory’ which has prompted CA to formally request more details from the batsman.
