Almost two months after joining the club, Ethan Laird has finally made his debut for promotion-chasing Bournemouth as manager Scott Parker has explained the Manchester United loanee's role going forward.
Laird had joined Swansea City on a season-long loan, where he had impressed for Russell Martin's side. The 20-year-old had made the right wing-back position his own, having made 20 appearances in the Championship.
But during the January transfer window, Bournemouth came in with an offer to take him on loan. United had agreed to accept, with the club providing him with the chance to play as a base right-back - a position which the Red Devils would like to see him play in, rather than in a position which they do not use.
However, Laird can also be used as a right-winger, which Parker has admitted that he's considered. Since joining though, Laird had been yet to make his debut after suffering with hamstring issues.
