Arsenal legend explains Man City transfer thinking after completing summer deal

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Women's Super League (WSL) record goalscorer Vivianne Miedema. The Netherlands international left Arsenal after a seven-year spell at the end of last season, having notched 125 goals and provided 50 assists in 172 appearances for the Gunners.

During her time in North London, Miedema won the WSL as well as the League Cup in 2018, 2023 and 2024. The 27-year-old drew interest from clubs across Europe and North America; however, she is set to join Gareth Taylor's side as they seek to secure their first WSL title since 2016. "They want to win the league and titles. “Looking to the future, I’ve always said I want to play with best players in the world and I think City have got that.

I haven’t played as much football as I would have wished over the past two years, but I think and hope my best years are still to come. "I hope I’m going to be able to help the team as much as I can do.
