Who could it be? Amazon Studios are keeping fans guessing with 23 new character posters - featuring only hands - unveiled Thursday for its $450M-budget prequel series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premiering September 2Melkor's chief servant Sauron secretly forged the One Ring during the Second Age, but he did not wear gauntlets and he used a mace not a sword in Peter Jackson's 2001 film The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.So that means the mysterious figure on the poster is most likely the Witch-king of Angmar, who led Sauron's regal men-turned-servants the Nazgûl or Ringwraiths.

The Witch-king - who was once the King of Angmar in the north of Eriador - was famously killed by Rohan shieldmaiden Éowyn in Peter Jackson's 2003 film The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.Other posters feature a female character holding a white flower, perhaps from the Trees of Valinor, since it had too many petals to be the Rohan flower, Simbelmynë.

Evil: One poster revealed a villainous, sword-wielding character wearing dark armor and a gauntlet whom many speculate is either Melkor, Sauron, or The Witch-king of Angmar.
