Darts legend Bob Anderson missed the board entirely during the World Seniors Darts Championship on Thursday evening.A new competition for 2022, Anderson, 74, kicked off the inaugural tournament against 2015 World Grand Prix winner Robert Thornton. The maiden competition sees former tungsten throwers battle it out to see who still reigns supreme in a four-day single-elimination tournament at Circus Tavern.Rules stipulate all competitors must be over the age of 50, though current PDC Tour Card holders are ineligible to participate - ruling out darts stars Peter Wright, Gary Anderson, Raymond van Barneveld and Glen Durrant.Throwing for a prize pot of £30,000, the championship will come to its dramatic climax on Sunday with Phil "The Power" Taylor the bookies favourite to take home the crown. And kicking off the tournament on Thursday evening was three-time BDO World Masters champion Bob Anderson who was pitted against Robert "The Thorn" Thornton.Though the match didn't get off to the greatest start as "The Limestone Cowboy" missed the board completely midway through the opening leg.Trailing 282-36, Anderson hit a single one and a single 20 before dropping down the board to aim for treble 19.But the 74-year-old got it all wrong, missing the board entirely as the commentary team quoted "Little bit of early nerves for Bob."HAVE YOUR SAY!
