Google searches for 'sell Xbox' reportedly skyrocketed this week after Sony announced it was acquiring game developer Bungie.Gaming site Solitaired say that online interest from gamers researching how to sell an Xbox shot up by more than six times the daily average, or 475% in the UK alone on the same day that Sony revealed its plans.Sony picked up the creators of the original 'Halo' series for a cool $3.6 billion (£2.6 billion), just weeks after Microsoft acquired Activision-Blizzard for a whopping $68.7 billion (£50.5 billion), in a sign that the decades-long 'console war' is heating up again.Bungie was famously one of the Xbox's major studios, being the original developer behind Halo. However, the last time Bungie made a Halo game was Halo: Reach in 2010.

In the 12 years since, it has only produced sci-fi shooter Destiny and undergone widespread staff changes since.A spokesperson from Solitaired said that it was evidence of the 'console wars' going strong:"The console wars between Xbox and Playstation have been going on for over two decades now and the fight is still strong."They added: "It's interesting to see that the original creators of the hit Xbox exclusive series, Halo, is now owned by their main competitor."Many gamers have questioned why Sony made the acquisition, given the fact that Bungie has only produced Destiny and Destiny 2 since leaving Halo behind. One gamer, YongYea, took to Twitter to share his confusion: "Let me get this straight.

Crash Bandicoot, which was once a Sony & PlayStation IP, now belongs to Microsoft & Xbox."And now Bungie, which was once a Microsoft & Xbox studio, now belongs to Sony & PlayStation.
