Strictly Come Dancing professional hopes to do this by showing fans a new side of himself as he skates his way through the competition on ITV's Dancing On Ice.In a new interview, the 45-year-old, who famously quit the ballroom programme back in 2018, expressed that his competitive reputation isn't accurately reflecting his personality.

While speaking to The Mirror, he said: "I had 15 years of that narrative, regardless of how funny I was or the silly stuff that I got up to backstage."If my Strictly partner wanted to work hard and try and be there at the end, I'd be working my backside off. "But if my partner was like, "I don't want it that much", that was fine also." Brendan became one of the most controversial dancers on Strictly for his countless spats with Craig Revel Horwood as he often jumped to the defence of his partners when the latter awarded them with unfavourable feedback. But Brendan, who spent 15 years on the BBC One show, says he's no longer the confronting type of person. The professional dancer is partnered up with Vanessa Bauer on the latest series of Dancing On Ice.And judging by Brendan's way of words, he couldn't have chosen for a better ice skating pro after having described the 25-year-old just as hard-working as himself."There are a few elements to our personalities that just work," he continued. "We love that feeling of, 'It's not quite good enough until the day.'"We have that same drive, the same work ethic."Brendan carried on, saying: "She's got a little bit of spice in her, which I like."Later this month, Brendan will be reunited by his former Strictly colleague Arlene Phillips, who is expected to take up a guest spot on the Dancing On Ice panel.
