Both groups of patients are now part of the UK’s Infected Blood Inquiry, which began in 2018.‘There was gross incompetence, negligence and wrongdoing on an unimaginable scale,’ says Richard Warwick, 56, who has both HIV and hepatitis C. ‘The government called it an unavoidable tragedy, they said everything was out in the open.
