Village cricketer turns up to away match and finds hamster in his bag

A Cornwall cricket team had an unlikely mascot for their away league match when a hamster, named Gerbus, was found inside their bowler's kit bag.Youngster Tyler Ivey was late to the crease for his side Holsworth as he was explaining where the hamster was to his worried mum.

Better late than never, Ivey eventually bowled out the opening batsman..Holsworthy CC, who play in the Cornwall Cricket League, tweeted out the hamster news.

They said: "Our young bowler Tyler opened his cricket bag after a two-hour journey to our away game on Saturday, and realised his hamster had been in his bag the whole time."The tweet was shared @ThatsSoVillage and their followers who were keen for an update on the hamster's welfare.

Fellow Holsworthy seconds player @Ryan_Smith180 was quick to reassure people that Gerbus was returned home safely.He said: "The hamster did survive!
