dailystar.co.ukRussia's invasion of Ukraine continues.Two of U.S. Air Force B-52H Boeing Stratofortress bombers departed from RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire on Wednesday, (March 9) NorthantsLive reports.The Royal Air Force station is the home of the US bombers which have flown over locations including Sweden over the past week.The US Air Force has confirmed the planes were involved in an exercise over the UK.Corporal Lee Matthews said: "The aircraft lifted under ‘FEAR’ call signs, heading over Wales and the South West coast of England."The B-52H Stratofortress is a heavy bomber capable of a variety of missions.It can fly at high subsonic speeds at altitudes of up to 50,000 feet and can carry nuclear or precision-guided conventional ordnance.Four of the jet-powered warplanes are currently stationed at the Gloucestershire RAF station, part of the Bomber Task Force Europe.On Tuesday one of the aircraft conducted a series of integration flights, connecting with the European nations of Romania, Greece, and Italy.The B-52 aircraft took off from RAF Fairford and flew over central Europe to meet up with Romanian Joint Terminal Attack Controllers.Before returning to base the B-52 integrated with Italian and Greek aircraft.The United States Air Force said: "Given the inherent speed, flexibility, and range of strategic bombers, Bomber Task Force missions highlight U.S.
