Two 15-year-old girls were allegedly raped at a holiday resort after meeting three young men at a popular beach on New Year's Eve, say police.
One of the girls was in a "semi-naked" and "distressed" state when she went to the concierge for help, said investigators. Three men, all aged 22, were quizzed by detectives on suspicion of rape and sexual assault before being released pending further investigation.
Police said three girls encountered the three men on the beach in Surfers Paradise, a seaside resort on Queensland's Gold Coast in eastern Australia, on Thursday night.
Two of the girls reported being raped, the force added. Acting Chief Superintendent Geoff Sheldon told ABC News that at least one of the 22-year-old men would be charged.
