A toddler managed to escape a nursery through a side door which had been left open. The child was thankfully found by a member of the public minutes later and returned to Caterpillars Day Nursery in Carshalton, south London.
But the nursery has now been ordered to close while Ofsted investigates the incident, which happened on June 5. Bosses at the centre said they are "devastated" and "surprised" by the watchdog's decision, and that all risks have been removed.
They are appealing the ruling. The member of staff said to be responsible has been suspended. Parents received an email from the nursery manager, which read: "We received the devastating information today that Ofsted is suspending our registration with regard to an incident that
