At least 10 newborn babies have been infected with coronavirus at a hospital's maternity unit in Romania. It is reported the babies caught the deadly virus from staff at the hospital in Timisoara.

An investigation has been launched by authorities, concerned it was staff infecting patients and not the other way round. "The mothers tested negative, but the babies tested positive so we have to consider their contacts with medical staff," Health Minister Nelu Tataru said in an interview with the Antena 3 TV station on Monday.
