TelevisaUnivision reported a 1% year-over-year dip in U.S. advertising revenue in a third quarter otherwise propelled by the company’s strike-resistant media operations in Mexico.
Ad revenue came in at $459.4 million for the period ending September 30, while total revenue for the privately held company rose 11% over the prior-year quarter to hit $1.28 billion.
Operating income before depreciation and amortization was flat at $412.2 million. Excluding spending on political and advocacy spots, advertising in the U.S.
rose 3%. TelevisaUnivision came into the third quarter with a unique story in the challenged media sector, with viewership and ad revenue showing increases in recent quarters as most rivals experienced decline.
