teens allegedly killed a "terrified" young lad "like zombies attacking an animal" in a savage knife attack. The 10 youths aged between 14 and 18 are standing trial at Newcastle Crown Court, accused of a joint attack on 18-year-old Jack Woodley.
Jack, from Durham, was allegedly punched, kicked and then stabbed with a "Rambo-style knife" last October after he left a funfair in Houghton-le-Spring.The accused all deny the murder charges.
One has admitted to the alternate charge of manslaughter after stabbing Jack, reports ChronicleLive.Prosecutor Mark McKone said a man who knew Jack saw a group of "boisterous youths" and two of them approached Jack saying: "Are you saying you are going to hit my boys."He said Jack was surrounded and they were asking him for a "straightener".
The witness told police he stood between them and Jack and told them "no-one is fighting Jack".He said the group then searched him and Jack for knives, which they didn't have.
