Daniel Caulfield, 38, pilfered more than £38,000 which had been left to his son by his mother to her grandson. However when he turned 18 and asked for the money he discovered it was all gone, a court heard.

A judge said it was difficult to imagine a more "despicable" offence - but handed 38 year-old Caulfield from South Wales a suspended sentence.
