Tool bassist Justin Chancellor dressed up in a Willy Wonka disguise to prank the band’s support act on tour – watch the footage below.Californian alt-rock trio Night Verses were the victims while wrapping up their support duties on their European tour in June.Yesterday (August 20), Tool posted a video on social media of Chancellor wearing a Willy Wonka disguise alongside members of the band’s crew in animal costumes as they invaded the stage during an instrumental breakdown in Night Verses’ set.Understandably, the band members were a little confused to see Chancellor carrying a cane onstage and trying to conduct them – though, to their credit, they didn’t seem too bothered by the antics and were able to complete the song without missing a beat. Coal Chamber have been forced to reschedule their Fall 2024 tour across the United States with Fear Factory due to a medical emergency – see their rescheduled dates below.This past weekend (August 17), Coal Chamber took to social media to announce that their ‘Fiend For The Fans’ tour with Fear Factory, Twizted and Black Satellite had been rescheduled for Spring 2025. The announcement came just a week before the tour was due to kick off on August 23 at the House of Blues in Las Vegas.Per their statement, Coal Chamber frontman Dez Fafara revealed that he had undergone a medical emergency, and was being urged to postpone the tour. He wrote that he had been feeling good and had been training well for the tour after “long haul COVID tried to kill me”.

Slipknot bassist Alessandro “V-Man” Venturella has shared a close-up of his new mask with fans.In a recent Instagram post, V-Man shared a picture of a metallic mask with slashes through the eyes and mouth, writing that he was “beyond stoked with it”. The mask was designed by visual artist and sculptor, Hedi Xandt, who the bassist said he was “a massive fan of”.Xandt also made a post debuting the new mask he designed, writing: “Before I forget…here’s a first and closer look at the mask that @vmanshreds debuted for the start of the @slipknot 25th (!) anniversary tour this weekend.“Its design nods to earlier incarnations of V Man‘s face and references Italian expressionist sculptures ravaged and converted into a mask by brute force.

Guns N’ Roses manager Vicky Hamilton has confirmed that she is working on a new series about the ‘80s sunset strip.The manager famously worked with an array of some of the biggest names in rock throughout the ‘80s, including Mötley Crüe, Poison, Styrper and Faster Pussycat.She was also behind the managing of Guns N’ Roses during the earlier years of their career – booking them shows in the time before they released their huge ‘Appetite For Destruction’ album and helping them seal a milestone deal at Geffen Records.In the time since, she has gone on to share a series of releases surrounding the rock icons, including the 2016 autobiography Appetite for Dysfunction: A Cautionary Tale, and a 1993 painting of frontman Axl Rose that she created nearing the end of her time working with the band.Now, during a new interview with Loudwire, Hamilton has revealed that she has another project on the way: a television series centred around the ‘80s sunset strip.Speaking about how both the new project and the 2016 autobiography relate to the 1993 artwork, titled Axl’s Glow, she told the outlet: “It was a very sad time. I was trying to figure out what had actually happened and why it went down like that.”“I think once I started writing the book, I kind of got a sense of why that happened, so that I would write this book,” she continued.

Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain has revealed that there are some songs that he “can’t play” in the way he did before he had a mini-stroke.McBrain suffered a minor stroke, or transient ischaemic attack, in January 2023 which left him partially paralysed on his right side from the shoulder down.He underwent 10 weeks of “intensive therapy” in an effort to get back to full strength, and within months he was ready to start rehearsals with the rest of the band, ahead of their ‘The Future Past’ tour.Now, during an appearance on the Washington Tattoo podcast, he has spoken about the ongoing effects of the attack.“I can’t do a 16-note roll going into 32nd-note rolls anymore,” he noted, referring to Maiden’s classic 1983 track ‘The Trooper’.“I don’t play [that] fill anymore because I can’t get it… It’s the speed of it. I can do everything slow, but I’ve had to make sure that as long as I can keep the groove of the song, which is normally…,” he continued, making clear he feels he is otherwise back to good strength.In an interview with Metal Hammer in December, he described the experiences as “very, very difficult”.“When it first happened, I thought, this is it, I’m not going to be able to play.

Avenged Sevenfold have announced details of a 25th anniversary show, which will see them perform tracks from early albums ‘Waking The Fallen’ and ‘City Of Evil’.Announced on their social media pages last night (August 12), the upcoming show will see the Huntington Beach metal band head over to Santa Ana later this year to perform at the 1,200-capacity Observatory.Taking place on October 25, the one-off show offers fans a chance to see the band in a significantly more intimate setting than usual – as compared to their recent run of mammoth shows across Europe and headline slot at Download Festival.It will also see A7X break out a unique setlist, as the members have confirmed that the gig will centre on two albums from their earlier discography: 2003’s ‘Waking The Fallen’ and its 2005 follow-up ‘City Of Evil’.They’ll be joined by Orange County band Death by Stereo – who are also celebrating their 25th anniversary – and tickets are priced at just $25 (£19). WARGASM have announced details of a 2024 UK tour, which will see them head to a variety of “intimate venues” – find ticket details below.The new run of headline shows comes on the heels of the metal duo – comprised of Milkie Way and Sam Matlock – playing a huge number of festival slots over this summer.Titled the ‘Club Shit’ tour, the new run of dates will see the band take over venues across 11 UK cities towards the end of the year, and break out some of their biggest hits in “up-close and personal intimate venues”.Kicking off on October 20, the first show lined up will see them play a set at the Pioneer Club in St Albans.

Megadeth have performed ‘Liar’ live for the first time since 2006 – watch footage of the performance below.Last Friday (August 9), while performing in Inglewood California, the legendary Dave Mustaine-fronted thrash metal band broke out the ‘So Far, So Good… So What!’ song live for the first time in 18 years.The song, takeen off their 1988 third studio album, ranks among the least-performed tracks in the band’s repertoire – it has only been played live 10 times in the 2000s, 27 times in the 1990s, and 36 times in the 1980s.Before launching into the song, Mustaine asked the California crowd: “I have a question for you – I have a question for everyone tonight. Sepultura’s Derrick Green has looked back at Eloy Casagrande’s abrupt departure from the band earlier this year, stating that it left him “in shock”.Back in February, the Brazilian thrash-metal icons announced that their longtime drummer, Eloy Casagrande, had suddenly left the band after having been in the line-up for 13 years. The news came as a shock to fans, as it broke shortly before they were set to kick off their ‘Celebrating Life Through Death’ farewell tour dates.He would later be confirmed as having joined Slipknot, following Jay Weinberg being unexpectedly ousted from the Iowa band around the same time.Now, during a new interview vocalist Derrick Green has said that fans weren’t the only ones left surprised by Casagrande’s departure, as the news left him “in shock” too.“I think I was flying out literally the next day to start rehearsals,” he said on the One Life One Chance With Toby Morse podcast (via Blabbermouth), recalling the day he found out his drummer was leaving.
