Sports Illustrated praised for diverse Swimsuit Issue finalists including Nasa scientist and brain tumour survivor
Sports Illustrated have found their finalists for the upcoming Swimsuit Issue, and it’s the most diverse panel yet.A staple in the magazine since 1964, the Swimsuit issue was long the centre of controversy, with some condemning it as objectifying women due to its spot in a generally male-centred magazine.Critics perceived it as objectifying women, while others argued it was represented the pinnacle of success for supermodels. In recent years, Sports Illustrated has sought to feature more diverse models in its pages, and featured Muslim model Halima Aden in a hijab and bikini in 2019, with plus size model Hunter McGrady starring in the magazine the same year.Meanwhile, Valentina Sampaio became the first transgender woman to feature in the magazine in July 2020.Embracing the new move, this year the popular sports magazine has rounded up 14 of the world’s most inspiring women to be in with the chance of appearing in the 2023 issue. The 2022 Swim Search finalists include a Nasa astronaut, hero ICU nurse, lawyers, women who have battled life-threatening diseases, full-time carers and more.Thousands of incredible women applied for the 2022 Swimsuit issue, and after months of difficult decisions, 14 finalists have now made their way to the Dominican Republic for the finals. All 14 will work with professional photographer Yu Tsai in a potentially life-changing photoshoot, before one is chosen to be the Rookie in the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The finalists themselves, as well as the public, have praised the diverse range of models up for a chance to be included in the prestigious, career-launching shoot.Ashley Byrd holds a degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters in Public Administration, and has worked as everything

Mo Salah raises "overconfident" issue at Liverpool and insists change must happen
Liverpool are into the next round of the Champions League despite losing 1-0 at home to Inter Milan, as goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino in the first leg were enough to get the job done.It was the first time that Liverpool have lost at home this season as Lautaro Martinez' wondergoal separated the two sides, but a red card to Alexis Sanchez blunted Inter's search for a second. It was also the first time that Liverpool have lost in 2022, but although recent results have gone their way, they have taken their foot off the gas slightly ever since they thumped Leeds 6-0.After winning the Carabao Cup against Chelsea, Liverpool are very much on for an unlikely quadruple, but Salah has issued a wake-up call as he labelled his side as "overconfident".On a different day, Liverpool would have won the game 2-1 and Salah would be the man of the moment yet again, but it wasn't the Egyptian's day as he struck both posts in the second half.Liverpool also hit the bar via a Joel Matip header, but Salah has said that Liverpool need to do more if they are going to add to their success this season.Salah told BT Sport: "We need to start better from the beginning, we need to push a little bit more, maybe in the back of our mind we felt we were a little bit overconfident, but it’s a good game for us to take and learn from.

Sky Sports issue apology to David Goodwillie as they correct 'racist' to 'rapist'
Sky Sports issued an apology to David Goodwillie as they corrected an earlier comment where they called him a 'racist' instead of a 'rapist'.Goodwillie has been at the centre of a Scottish football storm in recent weeks. The 32-year-old was ordered to pay a woman £100,000 in compensation by a judge in a civil court case in 2017 after they ruled that he had raped her six years previously. The former Scotland international, who has three caps for his country, was charged with rape in 2011 alongside then team-mate David Robertson but he was not criminally prosecuted.Five years later the woman took civil action against the pair and the judged ruled that Goodwillie had committed rape.As per civil law, the case was tried on the balance of probabilities and wasn't impacted by the lack of evidence which prevented a criminal case from going ahead. He continued his football career with Clyde before joining Raith Rovers in January, but they have sent him back on loan to his former club following public backlash to his signing. As Sky Sports covered the latest update on Wednesday, Goodwillie was incorrectly referred to as a racist.Later in the day a Sky Sports News presenter said: "We would like to issue an apology to Mr Goodwillie."A little earlier this evening, in error, we reported that he had been ruled to be a racist in a civil case in 2017."The ruling in question was actually that Goodwillie was ruled to be a rapist in that case."We apologise for the error in reporting."Goodwillie's long-term future hangs in the balance as Raith were forced to quickly make a U-turn on their decision to sign him.Two directors of the Scottish Championship side resigned, while their women's team severed all ties with the club. They subsequently said

'It's horrifying and barbaric' Death in Paradise's Ralf Little on issue close to his heart
Death in Paradise. The actor has spoken out about Project Galgo, a charity that helps the horrific treatment of Spanish greyhounds, having recently raised £25,000 for stray dogs in the Caribbean himself. In connection with Love Your Pet Day, Ralf has organised for all of the funds raised from his Cameo appearances to go to Battersea Cats and Dog Home.Working with Project Galgo, Ralf has used his platform to send a message about the treatment of animals.Speaking about his work with Project Galgo and Cameo, he said: "I became a patron of Project Galgo after learning about the horrific treatment of Spanish greyhounds - 'Galgos' and 'Podencos'."There is a very cruel custom amongst some Spanish hunters, or 'Galgueros,' that destroys more than 50,000 Galgos every year, and many of these dogs are tortured (yes, literally tortured) if they were considered to hunt poorly over the season."The reasoning given is that the torture will 'wash away the shame' of having hunted badly."He continued: "Needless to say, it is horrifying and barbaric, and Project Galgo works tirelessly to fight this practice and rescue as many Galgos as they can."Visit projectgalgo.com to find out more about their work (but please be advised, it is distressing, which makes it all the more important)."Ralf also made sure to thank his fans, having been "overwhelmed" by his fan base since starting on Death in Paradise. He said: "I have been overwhelmed by how much the Death In Paradise fans have responded to my stint on the show, and doing this is a wonderful way to connect with them."I hope many of them will get in touch so I can say hi, give them a shout out, and together we can try and make a difference for these poor animals in desperate need."Ralf recently
