Peter Debruge Chief Film Critic “No one can tell you not to create. You must create,” Academy Award nominee Colman Domingo told a crowd of Arkansas-based filmmakers and fans during Variety’s Southern Storytellers panel at the Filmland festival and conference in Little Rock. Co-founder of Filmland (and director of 1960s motorcycle club saga “The Bikeriders”) Jeff Nichols presented Domingo with the event’s inaugural Southern Storytellers Award, before joining Variety chief film critic Peter Debruge in steering a wide-ranging conversation about the craft with Domingo and half a dozen other writers, directors and producers.

Pulp performed ‘A Sunset’ live for the first time at Flow Festival this weekend.The song, which is co-written by Richard Hawley, was first performed in 2022 when he and Jarvis Cocker debuted it at The Leadmill in their native Sheffield.Earlier this year it made another appearance, performed by Cocker before he delivered ‘Biophobia’ at GEI (Green Events and Innovations conference) in London in March, when a 30-minute multimedia presentation featured the unreleased song.Now, the track has been played by the band for the first time, while Pulp performed on the main stage at the Helsinki festival on Sunday (August 11). According to Setlist.Fm, the moment saw Hawley join them for the rendition, and it arrived as the final song, following on from fan-favourite ‘Common People’.

Anna Marie de la Fuente Argentine bio series “Cris Miro” is slated to debut on TNT, Flow and Max across various territories in late June. While cable network TNT will be airing the series every Sunday from June 23 in Argentina, Uruguay and Chile, local platform Flow will stream the series in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay starting June 24. Max launches it on June 24 across Latin America, the U.S.

Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent Netflix has announced production of “Rhythm + Flow Italy” following the launches of the hip hop music competition in the U.S. and France. The groundbreaking talent show that follows and nurtures aspiring rappers will be produced in Italy by Fremantle and feature Italian rappers Fabri Fibra, Geolier and Rose Villain in search of local artists that will make their mark on the Italian rap scene.  “Rhythm + Flow Italy” – which stands as testament to how Italy’s hip hop producers and artists have been pushing the boundaries of the genre and made Italy one of Europe’s largest hip hop markets – will be an 8-episode series available on Netflix in 2024.
