Body found in Scapa Flow during search for missing male diver

A body has been found in the search for a Scots diver who went missing off the coast of Orkney last month. The diver was reported missing at around 11:10am on September 28 after he did not return to a waiting vessel.

The coast guard and RNLI launched a search, with help from two helicopters, but the rescue effort was called off at 9:30pm that night.Police Scotland sadly confirmed today, Monday October 16, that a body has been recovered on the island of Cava, in the Scapa Flow area.Officers say that formal identification is yet to take place but the family of the missing diver have been informed.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Monday, 16 October, 2023, the body of a man was recovered near the island of Cava, in the Scapa Flow area.“While formal identification is yet to take place, the family of a diver reported missing on Thursday, 28 September, 2023, has been made aware.“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.” Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - Sign up to our daily newsletter here
