'Super gonorrhoea' sweeping through UK as worried experts on high alert over STI

NottsLive has revealed the most common sexually transmitted infections in the UK - and which regions are most affected.England’s capital come toppling in the first place, with a staggering 87,690 sexually transmitted infections (STIs) recorded.The second highest was the South East with 32,972, followed by the North West with 29,972.

The East Midlands recorded 18,920 cases.While the North East of England recorded the lowest number of STIs with 11, 251 cases.The data also showed that chlamydia is the most commonly recorded STI in England.In London, there were 43,964 reported cases - meaning 0.5% or one in every 200 people in the capital are infected by chlamydia.Research provided by Manual found that chlamydia was most common among adults aged 20-24 with 60,059 cases, followed by those aged 25-34 with 47,260 cases and 15-19-year-olds with 32,731 cases.Leading Clinical Sexologist Ness Cooper explains: "When it comes to where people live, lots of factors can have an impact on how likely you are to contract an STI.
