Sports Direct under fire for keeping stores open during coronavirus lockdown after bosses claim store is 'vital'

Sports Direct has come under fire for keeping all stores open during the coronavirus crisis. In an email to staff members, bosses said shops will stay open because they are are "uniquely well-placed to help keep the UK as fit and healthy as possible”.

Mike Ashley's Frasers Group, which includes Sports Direct and Evans Cycles, sent an email to all employees within 30 minutes of the Prime Minister's announcement non-essential retailers will shut.
