CCTV footage captured the moment the man who killed Ashley Dale smiled as he bought beer from a shop just hours before she was shot dead.
The video showed James Witham, who has now admitted opening fire with a Skorpion sub-machine gun and firing the bullet that killed the council worker in her home, buying a box of Peroni inside the food and wine shop at around 7.54pm on August 20, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Just four hours later, in the early hours of the morning on August 21, Ashley, 28, was killed at her home in Leinster Road, Old Swan.
Joseph Peers was also captured on the footage, which was shown to jurors yesterday (October 11), smiling as he bought some cider.
