Leicester City were cruelly denied a winning goal against Manchester United thanks to a more than dubious VAR call.James Maddison thought he'd won the game for Brendan Rodgers' side with 10 minutes remaining after firing the ball past David de Gea at the near post following an awkward scramble on the edge of the box.Amid the pre-goal tangle, United defender Raphael Varane appeared to lose his footing, and a VAR review deemed Leicester forward Kelechi Iheanacho the culprit before ruling the goal out, much to the delight of the Old Trafford crowd.
The reaction on social media however was rather different."Not a chance is that a foul, not a chance. But because it is at Old Trafford.
Top six bias as per usual," one fan tweeted."Shambolic. Game is dead if you think that is a foul," posted another, while a third wrote: "Ridiculous, VAR just looking for reasons to disallow goals now, shambles of a league."A fourth fan had a slightly different perspective, saying: "Probably a foul but all we’ve heard all season is they won’t overturn minor decisions and they didn’t look at a clear red card earlier.
All we want is consistency."Did VAR get the decision right? Let us know what you think in the comments section. To his credit, Maddison took a fairly balanced stance on the incident, admitting after the game that the decision could have gone either way."It's one of them, you see them given, you see them not given.
