Sean Penn arrives in Ukraine to film documentary about current Russian invasion

Ukraine to document the ongoing war.The 61-year-old actor was photographed at a press briefing at the Presidential Office in Kyiv, held by the Ukrainian government, as Russia began to invade.He has also reportedly met with deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk, members of the Ukrainian military and local journalists.The official Associated Press Twitter account shared this message: “Filmmaker and actor Sean Penn is in Ukraine to work on a documentary about the ongoing Russia assault.”“The Ukrainian president's office said Penn was in Kyiv on Thursday and spoke to journalists and military personnel about the Russian invasion,” they continued.The office of Ukraine’s president Volodymr Zelenskiy released a statement which commended the actor for coming to the capital city “to record all the events that are currently happening” so that he is able to “tell the world the truth about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.”They also commended Penn for “demonstrating bravery that many others have been lacking” and called out “Western politicians” in particular.
