Schools in England could open their doors to some children over the summer holidays as part of plans to help them catch up, it is reported today.

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson confirmed last week he was looking at the idea of summer schools for kids in need. Asked directly if he’d support the idea, he told MPs: “We are looking closely at such schemes, and working with schools and with the sector to see how we can make them available.” Tory MP Robert Halfon suggested such summer schools
