It sounds like something out of a Hollywood movie, but the real-life robbery was actually one of the biggest and most audacious gem raids ever attempted on British soil During the morning rush hour on November 7, 2000, security cameras picked up a powerful seven tonne digger started closing in on the Millennium Dome in broad daylight.

Four gang members were inside the JCB as it smashed into a perimeter gate then battered through a set of steel delivery doors while families and school children were inside the visitor attraction.
