Rio Ferdinand has sent a message to Leeds United welcoming his former side back to the Premier League after 16 years out of the top-flight.
The Whites secured promotion from the Championship as closest rivals West Bromwich Albion lost 2-1 to Huddersfield Town on Friday evening.
Ferdinand played for Leeds for two years during their previous spell in the Premier League, after the West Yorkshire club broke the British transfer record by paying £18million to secure his services from West Ham United in 2000.
The fee was also a world record sum for a defender and the Englishman quickly cemented himself as a vital component of the side which reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2001.
